One of the lowest point on earth (125m below sea level), the famous Danakil Depression with its geological complex history, that lies at the triple junction of three tectonic plates, is one the must see touristic destination in Ethiopia. Its home for the spectacular active volcano Erta Ale, colourful hot spring Dallol and the salt lake of Afdera.

Btw. In 1974 the world known 3.2 million year old fossil Lucy was found in the region by Donald Johanson.
