welcome to ethiopia

Come with us and explore the highlands of Ethiopia!
This beautiful country has many wonderful places to experience and enjoy, and our aim is to share a very special one with you. We trek straight up from the laid back town of Lalibela to the highlands at around 4000 m to visit little villages where you will see, in a face to face interactive way, how the Ethiopian Highlanders live.

Our home-stay is a very rare opportunity and will leave you - of course together with a marvelous mountain surrounding - deeply impressed for many reasons. You are very welcome to read through our reviews for getting a better idea what travelers saw, felt and thought about trekking with us.

I am Daniel Melese, the owner of Highland Trekking; I was born and grew up in the highlands of Lasta/Lalibela. I love these mountains and its humble people with all my heart, which - after travelling to other countries - brought me straight back to this unique place and I opened my Eco trekking tour business, in order to show and share the wonders of my beautiful birthplace.

Apart from the trekking I also arrange everything else what is needed for an enjoyable stay in Ethiopia: from your regional tickets, the airport pick-up, organizing bus tickets or accommodation in and around Lalibela, booking professional guides for the churches in town until fully guided travels through the rest of Ethiopia - the Highland Trekking team will try its best to make your trip easy-going and memorable.

For the trekking we have options from a half day till 4 days. Please contact me for a personalized itinerary. You also can tell me your ideas and we can together work out a perfect plan. I prefer to arrange very small groups to please both trekker and highlander, when I mention Eco-trekking I mean it: I don’t want to hurt or destroy this fragile spot on earth or over-run it with masses of people. My guides are well experienced and know 'stick and stones' in the area. We are all looking forward meeting you here to say “selam new” in person!
